JC Project MuSE

Enriching Lives through Music and Sports

School-based music and sports education
Empowering music tutors and sports coaches
Active parent and community engagement

Referencing the renowned El Sistema model and its benefits for the whole-person development of underprivileged children, JC Project MuSE is a school-based music (Mu) and sports (S) education (E) programme for primary school children in the most impoverished areas of Hong Kong. It aims to develop children’s artistic and physical literacy and to enhance their positive whole-person development, emotional well-being and academic advancement, thereby endowing them with the best opportunities for future growth and development.

Its three-tier model offers entry level taster programmes; continuous trainings, including the formation of school ensembles and sports teams; and advanced music and sports training for exceptional talents. Other key components include professional development for music tutors and sports coaches, showcase performances and sports competitions, and parental support and community engagement.

Piloted in early 2024 and implemented since the 2024-25 school year, this six-year project will be implemented at a total of 15 primary schools from the most disadvantaged districts in Hong Kong, with an anticipated reach of over 8,000 students. The programme offers a structured, tiered approach for all children in the Project Schools, in collaboration with our Project Partners. Beyond benefiting students, the initiative also aspires to cultivate a wider appreciation for music and sports among teaching staff, parents, and the community.
